Websites that use ICT to develop questioning

Posted by aflderbycity on October 5, 2006

If you are planning to put pupils together or have groups peer assessing work you may wish to use the following websites to select a group by number.

There is a dice that can be used.  This is similar to the dice function of the Smartboard/Promethean IWB software.

For those wanting to use a timer to give pupils a chance to come up with answers there is the timer at http://www.harmonyhollow.net/ct.shtml

RE and assessment

Posted by aflderbycity on September 29, 2006

This document from Cheshire LA isn’t all about peer and self assessment. However, there are some good illustrations of assessment strategies and how to get pupils to reflect on the level they are working at.

Smartboard software

Posted by aflderbycity on September 29, 2006

Colleagues may wish to become familiar with the Smartboard software before the training session on Monday 9th October.  It is entirely free to download and can be used to create resources even if you do not have a Smartboard.  Some schools have even added it to the pupil area of the network so that they can have some alternative software to produce homework.

For those of you with slow connections to the internet beware as the file is 76 MB!

Blogs and blogging

Posted by aflderbycity on September 12, 2006

What use are blogs and blogging in the classroom?  If you would like a short introduction to the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies find our latest Secondary Teaching and Learning newsletter and read the article.  It’s probably in your staffroom.  If not you may wish to use Ewan McIntosh’s excellent blog as a starting point.
